SPARKAVIE makes the few hair things that live on a dresser: claw clips first, and the bows, pins, scrunchies and trays that go with them.

Built around one afternoon

The idea is a Seoul café table at about four in the afternoon. The sun comes in low through the window, lands on a clip someone has put down next to their coffee, and the clip throws a small rainbow onto the table. Everything in the shop is designed for that light.

That is why our claws are cut from cellulose acetate with fine mica flakes pressed between its layers. Acetate is a plastic made from cellulose. It can be cut, shaped and polished, and it holds colour in layers, so light moves inside the clip instead of sitting on its surface. In the shade the clips look like milky pearl; in sun they flash pink, lilac and gold.

Nine colourways that match

We keep to nine colourways, named after Korean ingredients and the light they remind us of: Milk Pearl, Rose Mica, Yuja Glow, Sesame Smoke, Oat Sheen, Omija Glass, Mugwort Haze, Lilac Dusk and Honey Amber. The same shades run through the claws, the satin and velvet bows and the scrunchies, so a clip, a bow and a scrunchie can be worn or given together.

One head, every clip

Every worn photo in the shop shows the same head, by the same window, in the same light. It is the easiest way we know to compare how big a clip really is and where it sits. Try it on the home page.

What we say, and what we don’t

We describe what things are made of and how big they are. We don’t promise that a clip will stop hair breaking or slipping, because that depends on your hair. Clips, bows and pins contain small parts and are not for children under 3.
